The India vs Pakistan 2026 T20 World Cup match is just a day away. Before the match, former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir took a dig at India’s best T20I batsman Abhishek Sharma. The former batsman had earlier called the southpaw a slugger and was criticized for it on social media.
Responding to his criticism once again, Mohammad Amir believes that Abhishek Sharma is a lazy person as he has not been tested in conditions like South Africa, New Zealand and England. While opening for India, Abhishek Sharma has a strike rate of 195. He is hitting fours every three balls and has scored the most runs for India since his debut in 2024.
Mohammad Aamir took a serious dig at Abhishek Sharma
Mohammad Amir, on the show Hasan Mana Hain, said, “He’s a slugger. He’s a slugger – OK, in my opinion. Simple. Someone who doesn’t know how to stop the ball down the line – what would I call him? A proper batsman controls the line. He comes and swings, it hits him – that’s fine. He’s having a good time.”

“The day he comes over the line and shows he can actually play, yes, he can deal with the bowler. He can play on shorter boundaries on flat wickets, but he hasn’t even been tested yet.”
Amir further added, “Let him go to South Africa, New Zealand or England, where the ball swings. If he performs there, I will be the first to say he is a proper batsman. He is playing well now, I will accept that – but he needs to play a few more matches to be called a proper batsman.”
Ahmed Shahzad defends Mohammad Aamir
Ahmed Shehzad defended Mohammad Aamir, saying, “Yesterday we were talking about opinions. Every person has his own opinion and everyone should respect each other’s opinion. You may not like me; Aamir may like me. Rashid may not like me – it’s the opposite. All these things are part of life.”
“It’s not about debating whether someone is a big international bowler or not. Let’s debate – that’s fine. But abusing someone is not right.”
Mohammad Aamir brings reference to Virat Kohli
“This is the same Aamir who is a true fan of Virat Kohli,” the broadcaster said. Aamir said, “I still believe that Virat Kohli is the best batsman of this generation. But… I still believe that Abhishek Sharma is a lazy player. Simple.”
Abhishek Sharma is suffering from stomach problems and his participation against Pakistan is in doubt. He has traveled to Sri Lanka with the team as his fitness will be decided in the final training session on Saturday evening. The left-handed opening batsman did not have a good start to his World Cup campaign after being dismissed for a duck.
Abhishek has scored almost 190 strikes in the three matches played against the Men in Green, which also includes a half-century. He has the experience of handling Pakistan’s bowlers and would like to be prepared before the important match.
