According to a report by Dainik Jagran, the upcoming ODI against Australia may be a farewell series for two of the greatest cricketers of all time – Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
This will mark the end of an era in international cricket as the pair has already retired from T20i and Test cricket, and ODI will eliminate its mythological career.
Allegedly, the BCCI has set a clear position for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli if they want to expand their ODI career beyond the tour of Australia. Both have to participate in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and prove themselves in domestic cricket, and due to this mandate, Rohit and Kohli can leave the ODI after the Australia series.
“According to BCCI sources, if the two want to continue to play after the Australia tour, Rohit and Kohli may have to participate in the domestic Vijay Hazare Trophy starting in December, who play for their respective state teams in the ODI format playing for their respective state teams.

Publicly, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have expressed a desire to continue playing ODI cricket until they can and even give themselves a chance to facilitate themselves in the ICC Men Cricket World Cup 2027.

Now, Bhagya has planned to exit his ODI in 2025 after high-profile matches against Australia on 19, 23 and 25 October. The same report claimed that Rohit Sharma, who is currently the ODI captain of India, can end his international career as the team captain in Australia.
Overall, Rohit and Kohli have played 273 and 302 ODI matches in their legendary career and have scored 11168 and 14181 runs respectively at an amazing average of 48.76 and 57.88.
Meanwhile, the BCCI has already started working on an infection plan to deal with the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in OD cricket and will believe in the choice of Shubman Gill, Ishaan Kishan, Ruturaj Gikwad and Tilak Verma to fill their shoes.
