Former England cricketer David Lloyd has said that India is remembering senior batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. Lloyd said that men in Blue, who are on the verge of defeat 3–1, can achieve better results, which were part of Veerat and Rohit made part of the squad.
India allegedly planned to change leadership in Test cricket in May, replacing Rohit Sharma as captain for the five -match Test series in England. Rohit Sharma then declared his retirement from the format. A few days later, Virat Kohli also confirmed the exit from the tests – a decision that was already made.
David Lloyd makes bold claims on the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
In his Daily Mail column, David Lloyd praised India for his overall performance in the test series, but said he failed to seize significant moments. He said that there may be a difference in the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, and their presence may have changed the result.

It is written in its column for the Daily Mail, “India has been very impressive on the series, but they do not win the main moments.”
“If Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli were playing, I think the results are different. Some players smell the main moments and are active instead of reactive. Ben Stokes are fantastic on it. India must be scratching their head thinking about how they can lose this 3–1 on earth,” he said.
Vice -Captain will like Harry Brook as Captain – David Lloyd
David Lloyd also spoke about Oli Pope’s career numbers in the series. Lloyd has supported Brook for the role of a leadership, citing his association and natural relationship with Captain Ben Stokes.
“Michael Won said he would like Harry Brook as the vice-captain, and I agree. Brook is assured of a place in this side and a leader looks. He will naturally feed Stokes,” Lloyd further wrote.
“The simple fact is that Oli Pope’s location in this side is unsafe. Take out runs against Ireland and Zimbabwe and their return is very minor. Their average in the fourth innings of a test is 16.7, and for a number three, it is nowhere.”
Oli Pope’s position in England’s test side is under investigation after a poor run in the series opener in Headingley after a poor run. He scored just 200 runs with a half -century in the last four Tests, increasing concerns at number 3.
India on the verge of defeat of 1-3 series in oval
India has played competitive cricket in a series of 1-2. Many people believe that India has dominated more sessions overall, but the results do not indicate it.
England chased a target of 374 runs in stumps at 4 on the day of final test in the oval. At one point, they were hovering at 301/3, but faced a collapse to lose three wickets for 36 runs before stopping the bad light.
India is now facing a difficult fight in the last day to avoid another series defeat in England. The series stallwarts have been without Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, both retired from Test cricket just before the tour. Shubman Gill took over as captain.
