Legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev has given a bold message as men are playing Asia Cup 2025 without their two biggest superstars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in Blue. After winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retired from T20I cricket.
And earlier this year, in May, both Kohli and Rohit also retired from Test cricket. He is now active in ODI cricket only and is ready to return to Australia’s tour later this year. However, the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is felt in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 in UAE.

However, Kapil Dev has made it clear that he is not remembering Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma. The 1983 World Cup winning captain insisted that his time on the field was incredible, and he gave his best for India. He said that now it is a new generation moment to show his talent.
Remembering Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the Asia Cup 2025, Kapil Dev told Sportstock, “I am not missing anyone. It was his time. He really performed well and performed brilliantly for India during his era. Now, a new generation has come, and it’s his turn to prove themselves.”
Playing for India matters more than captaincy: Kapil Dev
Meanwhile, the legendary Indian all-rounder wandered around Shubman Gill and also shared his views on the captaincy rumors, possibly as India’s T20I captain, soon in place of Suryakumar Yadav. There is speculation that Rohit Sharma will retire on a tour of Australia, and Gill will be handed over under ODI captaincy. And BCCI Gill is eager to make Team India’s all-format captain.
However, Kapil Dev insisted that it does not matter who leads the team, but what really means to India, saying that wearing a national jersey is the greatest honor. He suggested that Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav should avoid noise and focus on winning the game for India.

The legendary cricketer has thrown his full support behind the Indian cricket team led by Suryakumar Yadav for the Asia Cup 2025 Glory. He believes that the team is strong, talented, and is fully capable of dominating the tournament and lifting the trophy for a record ninth time.
Kapil Dev signed, saying, “India should perform well and come home as a champion.”
