Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra has recently named an Indian cricketer who could excel in Jeweln throw, and his choice was not surprising at all, as he had chosen Premier Fast Baller Jasprit Bumrah. Recently, Navjot Singh Sidhu asked Neeraj Chopra to choose a player, who could succeed in a javelin throw game during a special section on Star Sports.
The Golden Boy of India has directly named Jasprit Bumrah, which can make a successful career in the javelin throw. He further explained that fast bowlers already have strength, body coordination and technology that need to throw jewelin.
Neeraj Chopra supported Jasprit Bumrah to shine in the Zavin throw
Therefore, Chopra felt that a fit and strong Bumrah would be an ideal pick to take a Jewelin throw if he was not a cricketer. Neeraj Chopra told Navjot Singh Sidhu on Star Sports, “I think it will definitely be a fast bowler. Therefore, I think it would be good that Bumrah is fully fit.”

In particular, Bumrah was recently in action in the first Test match against England in Headingley. He gave a surprising performance in the first innings, claiming his 14th five -wicket race in Test cricket. However, in the second innings, Bumrah could not take a wicket as England pursued a stunning 371 runs.

Ben Docket led the charge with a luxurious 149, directing England to one of the highest successful fourth-plays in testing history. With a five-wicket win over India, England is currently leading the five-match Test series running by 1-0, with a second test set in Birmingham from July 2.
When Dinesh Karthik tried his hand at Jewelin Throw
Interestingly, former Indian wicketkeeper-batter and commentator Dinesh Karthik has already given a shot to Jewelin under the attentive eyes of Olympic champion Chopra.
During the 2024 episode of Jio Cinema’s ‘Gate Set Gold’ show, Neeraj challenged Karthik to throw a spear at least 25 meters away. Karthik did not find right in his first attempt, but with little guidance and determination, the former cricketer shut down the target on his second attempt.

Jasprit Bumrah’s heavy charge exposes India’s backup weakness
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah has been India’s bowling workers, and the number says all this. Since the beginning of 2024, Bumrah has taken 78 wickets in just 15 Tests, more than any other fast bowler in the world during this period. But the most thing is that the Indian fast bowler has bowled in a big way in the most 410.4 overs for any pace worldwide.

Australia’s Mitchell Staror is the next, but is behind with 362.3 overs. England’s growing pacer Gas Atkinson has taken 54 wickets in the same period, but he bowled only 328 overs, which is about 80 less than Bumrah. Among Indians, only Ravindra Jadeja has crossed the 400 -over mark (400.1).
Mohammad Siraj, who has played matches similar to Bumrah, bowled 355.3 overs. With the possibility of resting Bumrah for workload management, Siraj is expected to lead the speed attack in Edgbaston. However, his performance in Headingley was not impressive.
Here are fast bowlers who bowled the most overs in tests (since the beginning of 2024):
Jasprit Bumrah – 410.4 (78 wickets)
Mitchell Starc – 362.3 (48 wickets)
Pat Cummins – 359.1 (51 wickets)
Mohammad Siraj – 355.3 (41 wickets)
Gus Atkinson – 328 (55 wickets)
