Virat Kohli is ready to make a comeback in ODIs on the Australia tour and will also answer questions regarding his participation in the next World Cup. Australia’s great player Matthew Hayden has praised his unmatched energy with a strange comparison.
Indian legend Virat Kohli has once again taken the internet by storm with his much-awaited comeback for India. The batsman, who has also retired from the Test format, missed cricket action for the Men in Blue for almost 7 months.
Kohli also attracted attention for a cryptic post he made on X, which was later found to be part of an AD shoot for Rogan. Fans took this as a ray of hope, a sign from the great cricketer that he was determined to remain until the next World Cup.
“Virat is high octane, he is a Ferrari.” Matthew Hayden lauds Virat Kohli’s aggressive presence on the field
Many cricketers have gathered to praise Indian legend Virat Kohli on his return to international cricket. Even Australian legend Matthew Hayden has praised the second highest ODI run scorer.
Matthew Hayden this time not only appreciated Kohli as a cricketer but also praised him for his character on the field. Kohli is known to show some great charm whenever he takes the field. Hayden compared him to a “Ferrari”, claiming that he is “incredibly good”.
Hayden said on All Over Bar The Cricket YouTube channel, “Virat is high octane, he’s a Ferrari. He makes all the noise; he’ll point at the crowd. You’ll have the Geostar who will focus on everything he does on the cricket field. And everything is so big that it’s not difficult to polarize your views on it because he’s that good.”
“In my mind, I’ve got him to focus on 2027 (World Cup)” – Hayden
The great batsman has kept himself away from the game for a long time since he last played in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Although he has expressed his desire to play in the 2027 ICC World Cup, the decision no longer seems to be in the hands of the great cricketer as the dynamics of Indian cricket are changing.
However, Ajit Agarkar had reported that both Rohit and Virat have been reluctant about participating in the next World Cup in 2027. The Australian legend once again praised Kohli for his record-breaking figures in ODI cricket and his elite fitness standards despite his age.
Hayden said, “He has played 302 matches and scored 14,000 runs and what to say about this average in ODI cricket, it is unbelievable. The key to him is that he is a gold star with his fitness and preparation. In my mind, I have inspired him to focus on 2027 (World Cup). He wants to be a part of it.”
Matthew Hayden is one of the visionaries behind the ‘Test Twenty’ format
Test Twenty is the fourth format of cricket which has been recently introduced to revolutionize cricket and provide a global platform for the youth to showcase their talent. The format involves a mix of Test and T20I cricket, with 80 overs played in a day, with both teams having 2 innings each.
Now, along with former South African AB de Villiers, great Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh and great West Indies captain Sir Clive Lloyd, Australian batsman Matthew Hayden is also one of the cornerstones of the widely discussed move to modernize and develop cricket for future generations.
