Congress MP and public figure Shashi Tharoor has ruled the debate about the retirement of the Indian batsman Virat Kohli from Test cricket and compared with the England batsman Joe Root. Tharoor’s comment was India’s 2–2 series and the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England in 2025.

Joe Root made an impressive outing in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, with 537 runs at an average of 67.12 as the second biggest run-scorer. He noted three centuries and a fifty.
After a cool beginning of the series, the root found its rhythm in the latter half, each of the last three tests scored hundreds.
The 34 -year -old became the second player to register over 15 centuries against India in all formats. He also climbed second place in the list of all-time leading test run-scorers. The root showed continuity and made a significant impact throughout the series.
