The final during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 was between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT). There was a special moment between Virat Kohli and Sai Sudarshan when they ended their heated argument before the 17th over of the match.

This moment came when there was a heated argument between the two cricketers. Sai was seen coming towards him at the non-striker’s end and he talked to him for a while. Although it is not clear what Virat Kohli and Sai said to each other, Sai’s body language seemed to indicate Kohli’s possible dismissal.

Virat Kohli-Sai Sudarshan calm down their heated argument

Kohli, on the other hand, was dissatisfied with the conversation and decided to ignore it before returning to the non-striker’s end to resume the chase. The situation did not escalate and the conversation appeared to be more cordial and playful than fighting. However, it provided a live atmosphere for fans watching the match.

Sai and Kohli were seen shaking hands before the 17th over and their differences were over. This shows the young cricketer’s respect for the former Indian captain. Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 75 as RCB easily chased down the target of 156 runs and secured back-to-back IPL trophies.

Why was there a heated argument between Kohli and Sai?

After the wicket of Shubman Gill during GT’s innings, Kohli approached Sudarshan after almost every ball and the stump mic captured some of his remarks. Kohli was heard saying that Sai was worried after the first wicket and was under a lot of pressure as a GT opener.

The effect of sledging was visible as in the fourth over, Sai mistimed a shot that went straight into the air and was eventually dismissed for 12, adding to the pressure on the team as both the openers returned early.

RCB won its second title

Talking about the match, RCB won the game by 5 wickets with Virat Kohli being the player of the match, he played a sensational inning of 75* runs on the night and chased down the target of 156 runs easily.

GT was asked to bat first, but they lost Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan early as they were on the backfoot. Titans kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They could only reach a score of 155/8 in their 20 overs. Like Washington Sundar played a fighting inning of 50 runs.

While chasing the target, RCB had a great start with Venkatesh Iyer scoring 32 runs in 16 balls. Kohli scored his fastest half-century in IPL history in 25 balls and Tim David scored 24 runs which helped them win their second title.
