Struggling a big time in Manchester
Visitors are getting difficult times in the ongoing fourth Test match of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England at Old Trafford, Manchester.
India was invited to bat first in the match and the openers set up a platform for a huge score very well with difficult situations.
However, the middle-order batsmen were not able to avail the maximum advantage of this, and India scored 358 runs on the board in 114.1 overs despite batting in one and a half days.
Sai Reformson (61), Yashasvi Jaiswal (58), Rishabh Pant (54), and KL Rahul (46) emerged as the top artists for the Indian team in the first innings of Manchester.
When it was India’s turn to bowl at day 2, they were absolutely terrible. The bowling attack by Jack Croly and Ben Docket for the cleaner for cleaner was taken to the cleaner, and the pacers did not bowl adequately threatening delivery.
Run-scoring was made very easy for the batsmen due to poor bowling, and England scored more than 200 runs for more than 4.80 runs in no time. In 2 -day stumps, England were at 225/2 with Joe Root and Oli Pope in the middle.
You remember Virat Kohli as captain – Sanjay Manjrekar
Speaking after the day’s game, Sanjay Manjrekar said that Virat Kohli was not the best captain, but he ensured that the Indian team did not look flat and was still intense when he was holding the opposition.
“You are remembering Virat Kohli as captain. Cleverly, and when he chose his playing XI, he could not be the best – people could not agree with it. But, there was not a flat looking Indian team while he was holding the opposition.
Shubman Gill did not do his company on the field – Sanjay Manjrekar
Sanjay Manjrekar further admitted that the current Indian team had either not seen too flat, but Rishabh Pant’s absence has hurt Test Skipper, Shubman Gill badly.
Manjrekar feels that the test vice-captain Rishabh Pant may provide valuable insight to his captain Shubman Gill, but he is not going on the field in Lord’s Test and now in the Manchester Test it means that Gill has been left with a lack of support.
Manjrekar explained, “I don’t say that this Indian team looked flat. These were difficult circumstances, but Rishabh Pant is on the ground and Shubman Gill did not do his company on the field for a while.”
In particular, Pant stayed out of the field in the third test of the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy due to a finger injury, and in the ongoing Test match at Old Trafford, he fractured his leg.
