Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson praised Virat Kohli during the third Test match between India and England. Williamson described Kohli as the best all-format cricketer of the last 15 years, highlighting his ability to live on top of the game in a cricket-brown country.

Virat Kohli was last seen on the ground during the IPL 2025 final, where Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won their first title on 3 June. Williamson said, “Virat is perhaps the greatest all-format player we have seen in the last 15 years, and they have their own challenges. In a completely cricket-joyous country and he has been at the top of that tree and has actually made the game,” Williamson said.

“Look, there are great types of relationships and friendship with all of them in a little different ways, and we are also in contact with many ways. But yes, really not such a competitive thing. I think you are just in a team where you want to compete as a team and do all the things of those things,” he said.

With India’s visit to Bangladesh by September 2026, it is uncertain when Kohli appears in the next national colors. Next possible opportunities may have a white-ball series in Australia in October 2025.
