Kohli and Rohit now jointly hold the record for playing most matches by an Indian pair. However, they still lag behind the all-time leaders, former Sri Lankan cricketers Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, who together represented their country in 550 matches.

Performance of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for India in international cricket
Rohit Sharma debuted for India in 2007, while Virat Kohli played his first international match a year later in 2008. Notably, Rohit participated in Kohli’s first ODI match. Over the years, the pair became the pillars of Indian cricket, and represented the country in all three formats until 2024.
They have played 60 Tests, 225 ODIs and 106 T20Is together. Both the legends retired from T20 Internationals after leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup and stepped away from Test cricket ahead of the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England.
