Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is nearing its halfway mark. Reigning champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are in good form in the tournament. They are second in the table after winning four out of six games and losing two. Former captain Virat Kohli is in great form this season.

Virat Kohli has been in good form as he has been listed in the race for the Orange Cap, where he is placed fourth on the list with 247 runs and an average of 50. He has scored two fifties in the tournament so far and has taken charge of the innings with the very first ball, and has also played the role of anchor when required.

He is a very down to earth person – Venkatesh Iyer on Virat Kohli’s nature

Ahead of RCB’s next encounter, Virat Kohli has been preparing hard, and he is recovering from the ankle injury he suffered during the Mumbai Indians (MI) game and perhaps also recovered from the fever he was suffering from. Ahead of RCB facing Gujarat Titans (GT), Venkatesh Iyer has shared his insights on Virat Kohli during the round table conference.

Venkatesh Iyer said, “First of all, he is an extremely down-to-earth person, there is an aura around him that never ceases to amaze people. And you can consider yourself lucky to be in the same dressing room with him.”

“At the same time, it is also an opportunity to take a lot of things from him because of the situations you have faced in life. The guy has seen it 50 times more than you. He knows how to deal with situations, not only with sports, but also with fame, money, family.

But an inspiration- Venkatesh Iyer on Virat Kohli

“To see such a perfect guy is nothing but an inspiration. You see how he celebrates wickets, you never see him jogging on the field, he runs. It’s all the more reason to step up your fitness. To step up your intensity. And to be on top of your game.”

Venkatesh Iyer has played just one game for RCB this season, scoring an impressive 29 runs at a strike rate of 193.33. The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder was picked up by the Bengaluru team for Rs 7 crore to add versatility and middle-order experience to their squad. However, the team’s middle order has not failed to perform yet.

RCB looking for a comeback

This is one reason why Venkatesh Iyer has got limited opportunities in the tournament so far. He would like to get some more playing time for the defending champions in the upcoming matches.

RCB lost its last game against Delhi Capitals (DC). They will look to bounce back in their final home match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. After this they will play their remaining home matches against Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders in Raipur. RCB would like to bid a farewell to their local fans this season.
