Varun Chakravarthy took a controversial catch to dismiss Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) explosive opener Abhishek Sharma. After watching the replays several times, the third umpire decided to call it out. Questions remain: Was it a clean catch?
SRH got a solid start with the help of openers Sharma and Travis Head. Inside the powerplay, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane was forced to bring in Sunil Narine to reduce the run rate. The entire stormy opening pair scored 82 runs in 5.4 overs.
Controversial, but a big blow for Sunrisers Hyderabad
Soon after Travis Head’s departure, Abhishek Sharma also went back to the dressing room after a controversial catch taken by Varun Chakravarthy near the boundary rope. The fielder moved his body forward to take the catch.
Sharma missed his half-century by just two runs. With four fours and four sixes, the Indian opener scored 48 off 27. Zimbabwe’s international fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani netted another big fish.
