India’s young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is becoming a superstar, having scored centuries in every format and tournament since last year. The former Indian selector has now cited Sachin Tendulkar in support of the selection of the young player from Bihar.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi stunned everyone with his brilliant performance, displaying his fearless determination and sheer power on the ball. Having played 15 youth ODIs, Suryavanshi averages 51.13 which includes two centuries and three half-centuries, the best part of which is his impressive strike rate of 158.79.

With India fighting for the opening slot in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, a former Indian cricketer has caught the attention of the Indian selectors. He made a reference to Sachin Tendulkar, who debuted for India at the age of 16.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s century in 2025

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has scored a century in almost every tournament played in the last year 2025. Be it senior cricket or junior cricket, Suryavanshi has never failed to dominate the bowlers with his fearless striking.

After scoring centuries against everyone, he scored a century in the Youth Test against Australia and then returned with another century against England in the Youth ODI series. At the domestic level, in the IPL, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and now in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, hundreds of Suryavanshis have turned up.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a Senior Men’s Asia Cup century against UAE in the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament and then scored another big daddy century against the same opponent in the Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup.

“He should be fast-tracked and brought into the Indian team soon,” Srikkanth said.

Chris Srikkanth has always been known for his opinions, and this time he has thrown his weight behind the teenage batting sensation. Impressed by his consistent performances, Srikkanth believes that the explosive batsman should be quickly promoted to the senior Indian team.

“Vaibhav is scoring centuries everywhere, be it IPL, Under-19, wherever. You can say it is against Arunachal Pradesh, but it is a different story. This guy is scoring centuries in all kinds of matches.”

“I had also said last year that they should fast-track him for the T20 World Cup. It may be too late now, but they are still including him in the squad. This boy has tremendous potential. He should be brought into the Indian team soon,” Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel ‘Cheeky Cheeka’.

Kris Srikkanth’s big claim, “Sachin also played at such a young age”

Former BCCI selector Kris Srikkanth has made a big claim of supporting Vaibhav Suryavanshi for the Indian national team. Drawing comparisons with the great Sachin Tendulkar, Srikkanth said patience is a useless claim when it comes to exceptional talent and India has already seen it.

He said, “People say let him play some more time, let him do this, let him do that. Sachin also played at such a young age. Of course, he played for India after scoring centuries at all levels, but the same can be done for this boy in white-ball cricket.”
