Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s dream of playing for India finally came true as he got a maiden call-up to the T20I squad for the upcoming Ireland and England tours as well as the Asian Games 2026.
As soon as the news of his first Indian call-up came, celebrations started at his home. The teenage batting sensation is currently in Sri Lanka with the India A team for the one-day tri-series, which also includes Afghanistan A.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi was included in the India squad for the first time after his incredible performances for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2026 season. The left-handed batsman impressed everyone with his fearless batting and ended the tournament as the highest run-scorer with 776 runs and won the Orange Cap.

Now, the selectors have rewarded the player from Bihar by giving him a place in India’s squad for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan as well as the upcoming tours of Ireland and England. Following the announcement, a huge celebration was held in Vaibhav’s hometown, Tajpur, a village in Bihar’s Samastipur district, where the media, family and friends gathered to congratulate his family.

The celebration became emotional and joyful when people gathered to celebrate this special occasion. Well, the celebrations continued with fireworks at the house and many media persons also reached the residence to capture the moment and take interviews.
On this occasion, Vaibhav’s father said that this achievement is the result of his son’s years of hard work, dedication and continuous efforts.

BCA President described Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s India selection as a historic moment for Bihar.
Meanwhile, Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) congratulated Vaibhav and his family on his call to India. BCA President Harsh Vardhan described Vaibhav’s selection as a historic achievement and said that it reflects both his hard work and the emerging talent coming out of Bihar.
BCA President Harsh Vardhan said, “Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s selection in the Indian team is a historic achievement for Bihar cricket. This is not just the success of an individual player, but a reflection of the continued growth of cricket in Bihar, the hard work of our players and the emergence of exceptional talent from the state. Vaibhav has proved with his performances that cricketers from Bihar have the potential to succeed at the highest level.”
He further added, “I am confident that he will make a significant impact for the Indian team and will continue to bring glory to both the country and Bihar. I wish him hearty congratulations and best wishes for a bright international career.”
BCA Secretary described Vaibhav Suryavanshi as a source of inspiration for young cricketers.
On the other hand, BCA secretary Ziaul Arfin said that Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s achievement is an “inspiration for lakhs of young cricketers” from Bihar. He congratulated him on his first call-up to India, which he earned through ‘talent, discipline and tireless hard work’.
