Former Pakistani fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed is also in awe of Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s brilliant batting as he made a bold claim that people will forget Abhishek Sharma’s fireworks once the Rajasthan Royals youngster plays for India.
Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi controlled the innings and is increasingly being backed by former stars to be brought into the Indian senior men’s team. He has now received some final support from cricketers around the world.
However, Indian T20I opener Abhishek Sharma has struggled in recent times. Not only is he struggling with his batting form but he has also lost form in recent times. However, after the ICC T20 World Cup final, he has scored many times.
“When Suryavanshi plays for India, people will forget Abhishek Sharma” – Tanveer Ahmed’s bold claim
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become an enigma at the age of 15, which has left many cricket experts in awe of this young Indian player. Former Pakistani fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed has now revealed that Abhishek Sharma will become a forgotten star after bringing Suryavanshi back into the team.
Tanvir has no doubts about it when he asserts, “When Suryavanshi plays for India, people will forget Abhishek Sharma. And when the two bat together, Abhishek will not even come close to Suryavanshi.”
He said, “People won’t even notice Abhishek. Everyone will be watching Sooryavanshi. On your TV screen, you won’t even notice Abhishek.” This comment comes after Suryavanshi’s brilliant 2026 IPL season.
Tanveer Ahmed doubts Suryavanshi’s effectiveness in the long run
Abhishek Sharma was brought into the Indian team after the retirement of Rohit Sharma in 2024. Abhishek had a stellar performance with the bat in IPL 2024 as he scored 450+ runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Since then, he has scored more than 1000+ runs for India while opening the innings for the Men in Blue. However, his form has declined in recent times, especially in the ICC T20 World Cup, when he was out for consecutive ducks and managed only two half-centuries, including one in the final.
Talking about Sooryavanshi, Tanveer couldn’t ensure a special performance from her for a long time, as he claimed that his comments are for now and not for the long run. He told, “However, in about 10 years’ time, I can’t say whether Sooryavanshi will be so disastrous or not. I am talking about now.”
Vaibhav Suryavanshi is unbeaten since IPL 2025
Ever since he was bought for Rs 1.10 crore in the IPL mega-auction, he has played 7 matches for Rajasthan Royals. After playing in 5 matches, he scored 250+ runs in the tournament with one century.
Since then Suryavanshi has performed brilliantly for India in international cricket. He has played important innings for the Indian youth team in England and Australia before winning the Under-19 World Cup with the Indian team in 2026.
He appears to have more talent than one of the greatest cricketers of all time, Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut at the age of 16. Suryavanshi scored 200 runs at a tremendous strike rate between 250 and 300 in IPL 2026.
