The young opener’s stormy innings eventually ended at 171 off just 95 balls with nine fours and 14 sixes when he attempted a paddle sweep and was bowled around his legs by Udish Suri. He was left far behind in rewriting history.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi fell a little behind Ambati Rayudu’s record but made his place in the history of Asia Cup.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi also missed the chance to become the first player to score a double century in Under-19 Asia Cup history and only the second batsman to score a double century in Youth ODI. South Africa’s Zorich van Schalkwyk remains the only player to score more than 200 in this format.
The Proteas star created history by scoring 215 runs against Zimbabwe in 2025. However, Suryavanshi has now moved to second place in the list of highest individual scores for India in Under-19 ODI innings, surpassing Shubman Gill as well as Mayank Agarwal (160) and Raj Bawa (162*). Gill scored 160 runs in 157 balls against England U19 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in 2017.

Well, this was Vaibhav’s second century in Youth ODI after his 143-run innings against England earlier this year. Just a few days ago, the 14-year-old became the youngest player to score a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy after scoring a brilliant century for Bihar in the domestic T20 tournament.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Aaron George launched a brutal attack of 212 runs.
Meanwhile, UAE won the toss and invited India to bat first. After Ayush Mhatre was dismissed cheaply, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Aaron George smashed the UAE bowlers all over the park and the duo stitched a massive partnership of 212 runs for the second wicket off just 146 balls to set India up for a big score.
Apart from Vaibhav’s stormy innings, Vihaan Malhotra and Aaron George both have played stormy innings of 68 runs, helping India cross the 420-run mark in the ongoing match against UAE. Both Udish Suri and Yug Sharma have taken two wickets each for UAE so far.
