Gill has been in great form for Gujarat Titans and has scored 378 runs in 9 matches at a strike rate of around 155.

Now, pairing him with someone like Vaibhav can bring a good balance. Bishop feels that Gill’s calm and composed style will really complement Vaibhav’s fearless approach. India’s upcoming tour of Ireland in June could be the perfect opportunity to test this idea. Bishop has also selected Vaibhav along with Gill Prabhsimran Singh As an opening option in their T20 team.
Ian Bishop said on ESPN Cricinfo’s “Quick Singles”: “Let me know if you disagree. I’m picking three opening batsmen in my team. I want as many left-right match-ups as possible. Shubman Gill has been in good form, so I’ve gone with him. The left-handed batsman is Vaibhav Suryavanshi. I think he’s ready to take another step up. And I’ve gone with Prabhsimran Singh. Priyansh Arya was also there, but I think Prabh is in better form this season.
Ian Bishop chose a strong middle order
Broadcaster picks top IPL 2026 performers like Shreyas Iyer, Rajat Patidar and more Devdutt Padikkal As a good option for the middle order. For the wicketkeeper’s role, Dhruv Jurel got the nod ahead of Jitesh Sharma due to his better form with both bat and gloves.
He further added, “I’m looking at Shreyas Iyer in the middle order for obvious reasons. Rajat Patidar is another who I think can make an impact, and Devdutt Padikkal, who has been fantastic.”
