In match number 64, Rajasthan Royals (RR) hosted bottom-placed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. It was a reverse match as both the teams had earlier met in Lucknow. After the Vaibhav Suryavanshi show in Jaipur, they won by 7 wickets. The Men in Pink performed the double over the Super Giants, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
Yashasvi Jaiswal came in as captain after Riyan Parag was ruled out due to a hamstring injury. The southpaw won the toss and decided to field first as they brought in three players, Luan-Dre-Pretorius, Sushant Mishra and Sandeep Sharma. LSG have also included Mohsin Khan in place of Mohammed Shami and Ayush Badoni in place of Aiden Markram.

Mitchell Marsh missed the century

After this Marsh and Nicholas Pooran took over the innings. The former player scored his half-century in 25 balls. Puran, looking in good touch, returned after scoring 16 runs. The Australian captain once again missed his century and was run out in the final over at the score of 96 runs. LSG finished with a score of 220/5 in their 20 overs.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi keeps RR’s hopes alive
Chasing this, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi made an equal start by scoring 71 runs in the power play. The former was aggressive, scoring 43 runs, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi was opening the innings. After Jaiswal’s wicket, Vaibhav Suryavanshi took charge and gave a stormy performance in the match.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi took his time and played a sensational inning of 93 runs, hitting 10 sixes and 7 fours in his stormy innings. The southpaw deserved a century, but he failed to achieve it by 7 runs. Dhruv Jurel scored a brilliant half-century in 37 balls and remained unbeaten on 53 runs.
My focus should be only on sports – Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Vaibhav Suryavanshi received the Player of the Match award for his exceptional innings. He shared his insights on celebrations after scoring a half-century and his plans on how to deal with the bowlers as he was confident of catching the score very quickly.
Vaibhav said, “Nothing much. I was just thinking because I was sitting outside during the bowling innings and the wicket was looking good. I was thinking that today I should not be too hasty in the beginning, I should take some time and if I bat for a long time, it will also help the batsman at the other end.”
“I know I can hit two or three fours or sixes at any time, so I can take a little more time and not rush too much and try to take the game to the end. (On getting all the attention and praise at a young age) Not much. I don’t really watch too much, I don’t read newspapers etc., so I don’t think too much about it. I just think this is just the beginning.”
Vaibhav finally said, “If my career gets longer and I play for a longer time, people will say a lot of other things. My focus should be on the game only and I should complete my journey. (On his celebration) Sir, I don’t know. I do something new in every match.”
“I don’t really plan it. There’s no meaning behind it. Even the celebration I did in the last match didn’t have any meaning. I just keep trying new things.”
