Young left -handed batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi continued his impressive form in the young ODI series between India U19 and England U19. Suryavanshi came close to breaking the record of Rishabh Pant, which was the fastest Indian ODI to score fifty, but was reduced by milestones.

The 14-year-old batsman scored 86 runs in just 31 delivery including six fours and nine sixes during India’s four-wicket win in the rain-short-and-over competition in Northampton on Wednesday, 2 July.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is less than Rishabh Pant’s U19 record

Vaibhav Suryavanshi did not waste any time to install tone for India’s run chase. He hit two consecutive sixes from Pacer Sebstian Morgan in the third over. He followed it with two and sixes and a border with the same bowler in his next over.

Suryavanshi reached half a century in just 20 balls. Southpo became the second fastest Indian U19 batsman to do so. Team India wicketkeeper-son Rishabh Pant earned 18 balls against Nepal in 2016.

At the time he was rejected, India had already scored 111 runs within eight overs of their chase. India chased a target of 268 and additional with four wickets in hand and more than five overs.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi sets records for most sixes by an Indian in young ODIs

Suryavanshi also dug her name in record books for her power-touching. He scored a record for the most sixes by an Indian batsman in a young ODI. The Dakshinapav broke the previous record of eight sixes, jointly organized by Mandeep Singh and Raj Angad Bawa.

Suryavanshi scored 78 out of his 86 runs. This was 90.69% of their total score, a rare achievement achieved by only three other Indian players in the U19 ODIS.

England U19 captain Thomas Riv led the bat from the front

After being asked to bat first, England opener Ben Dokins gave the hosts a concrete start with 61 balls. Drkins shared a 78 -run stand with Isaac Mohammed, who added 41. Ben Mayes printed with 31, before Captain Thomas Reve hit an unbeaten 76 off 44 balls to help England’s 268/6.

Kanishka Chauhan played an important all-round role. He took 3/38, which included an important skull of Ben Mayays and Rocky Flintoff. Later, Kanish scored 43 runs with the bat. He and RS Ambrish (31*) directed India to win with more than five overs.

The four-wicket win gave India a 2–1 lead in the series. India will take England in the fourth youth ODI in New Road in Worster on Saturday, July 5.
