The youngster revealed that Laxman spent time understanding his mindset ahead of the series and encouraged him to play with complete freedom, a message that gave him immense confidence heading into his senior India debut. The 15-year-old justified that belief by scoring 151 runs in three matches, including brilliant innings of 50 and 81, which helped India dominate the series and also won the Player of the Series award.
“Playing for senior India and winning Player of the Match and Player of the Series, that dream has come true, and I am very happy. I would like to thank everyone who supported me in my journey. The way our head coaches, VVS sir and Rishi sir, spoke to me before the matches, they discussed with me a lot about what I was feeling and what mindset I was in before the series started. The young player thanked his senior teammates for making him feel at home
Apart from acknowledging the coaching staff, Suryavanshi also highlighted the role played by senior members of the Indian dressing room in smoothening his transition to international cricket. He said that the experienced players never made him feel like a newcomer, due to which he quickly got a place in the team. The left-handed batsman gave special praise to the wicketkeeper-batsman.
