Jos Buttler, who now plays for Gujarat Titans, left his former franchise RR ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, ending his seven-year stint. During the auction, he joined Gujarat Titans for a whopping price of Rs 15.75 crore.

Jos Buttler revealed in a previous YouTube podcast with former England player Stuart Broad, “It’s inspiring and exhilarating at the same time. This guy is 20 years younger than me, and he’s hustling us around the park.”

He said, “But yes, there was a shock wave in the cricket world as a whole, I think, that a 14-year-old boy was picked – that was the story, right, he was the youngest in the auction and Jimmy (Anderson) was the eldest by age difference.”

Buttler recalls Vaibhav Suryavanshi century of IPL 2025

Suryavanshi played a master innings against Gujarat in 2025, when he scored his first IPL century as a 14-year-old cricketer. This was also the second fastest century scored in the history of IPL.

Recalling his record-breaking century versus GT, Butler said, “In the innings against us, our bowling attack had Mohammed Siraj, a brilliant international bowler; Prasidh Krishna, an international bowler; and Rashid Khan, the best T20 bowler. And the scale of the sixes, well, they were not just going over the boundaries; they were big sixes. And 35 balls for 100, it was outrageous.”

“He actually hit a six off his first ball in the IPL. I think he had played two or three matches before playing against us. So the very first ball he faced in the IPL, he gave himself a bit of a chance and hit a six over wide long off and that was fearlessness – and I think that’s what I like about these guys, no.”
