A dream come true moment for Vaibhav Suryavanshi when he got his first cap for the senior India national cricket team for the second match of the 5-match T20 series against England. He got cap number 122 at the hands of Tilak Verma at the Old Trafford cricket ground in Manchester.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared a specially edited video to showcase the historic moment. Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his debut for Team India at the age of just 15 and broke Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record of making his debut at the age of 16. Vaibhav is now the youngest player to represent the senior Indian cricket team.

Tilak Verma’s suggestion for budding Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Vaibhav Suryavanshi received the cap with huge applause from his teammates. Handing over the cap to the youngest member of the team, Tilak Verma suggested him to continue the fearless brand of cricket he is known for.
“Congratulations! First of all, this is a very proud moment for you and your family. As you said, they must be working very hard for you. So, I feel very proud. Secondly, you have earned this cap with your talent and determination. Play fearless cricket, and nothing will change here. (0:23) Play with the right attitude and keep a smile on your face,” said Tilak Verma.
He said, “Make every Indian and the country proud. Congratulations, Cap No. 122, Vaibhav Suryavanshi. All the best.”

Warm welcome to Vaibhav Suryavanshi after receiving the cap
Suryavanshi revealed that as soon as he confirmed his debut for the national cricket team, he reached out to his father to inform him about the very important day of his life. The budding batsman said it is every cricketer’s dream to play for the national team at the highest level of the game.
“I feel great. It was a dream for someone. For someone, playing in India is the most important thing. Anyone who starts playing international cricket and represents their country, it is a very proud moment. First of all, I told my father in the room,” said the young opener.
He said that he first told his father about his international debut and then told his coach and mother and everyone who lived with him.
He said, “I told him that he is staying with me. I told him first. I didn’t tell anyone else. I told my sir, Rumi sir and my mother. I told everyone who lives with me. But first, I told my father. My father was happy and said, whatever you are doing, do it. There is no pressure. You just have to support your game. Dream came true.”
India’s journey started with a six off Jofra Archer.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi announced his arrival by hitting a six off England’s star fast bowler Joffra Archer. He started well, but his innings could not last long and Will Jacques and Jos Buttler together dismissed the dangerous opener. Suryavanshi’s first innings for Team India ended at 14 runs in 10 balls.
An incredibly special moment in the #TeamIndia camp today
