Vaibhav Suryavanshi left 10th board exam for cricket, under-19 star absent in school

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been a rising sensation for India. The 14-year-old batsman made headlines after his participation in the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He was selected by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Vaibhav, who is still a teenager, was to appear for the CBSE Class 10 exam today.

However, according to ANI, the southpaw did not appear for the exam. He could not prepare for the exam due to travel and cricket commitments. Earlier, his coach Manish Ojha had informed that he will not appear for the board exams as he has joined the pre-season training camp with the Royals for the upcoming IPL season.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi did not appear in CBSE exam

Suryavanshi is enrolled in Modesty School in Tajpur, Bihar and was to appear for the Class 10 board exams from February 17 to March 11.

Speaking to India Today, Ojha said, “He will not be appearing for the Class 10 exams. He is currently preparing for the upcoming IPL in Nagpur. He has already joined Rajasthan Royals for the pre-season camp.”

Podar International School Principal NK Sinha has expressed his views on the Indian Under-19 cricketer not appearing for the CBSE Class 10 exams. Speaking to ANI, he said, “He is absent today. He has not come to the examination centre. We have marked him absent as per CBSE policy. If any student is absent, we have to mark him absent.”

“We were expecting him to come and take the test, but he has a lot of other obligations too. There could be a cricket match or practice… I think he will definitely take the next test.”

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was in sensational form during the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, as the left-handed opening batsman scored a century in the final of the competition against England. He smashed the English bowlers all around the ground, scoring 175 runs in 80 balls. Vaibhav hit 15 sixes and the same number of fours in the innings. When he was batting, India’s estimated score was close to 500.

India scored 410 runs in the game and won the game by a margin of 100 runs to secure their sixth Under-19 title. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was named Man of the Match for scoring 439 runs in seven innings at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate close to 170 and was also named Player of the Tournament.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the Under-19 World Cup. He holds the record for scoring the second fastest century by an Indian in IPL history. He also became the youngest cricketer to score a century in T20. Vaibhav scored a century in just 35 balls against Gujarat Titans.

Suryavanshi would like to continue his excellent form and will not want to move away from cricket due to the publicity and media attention he is getting from his performances. He will have to focus on cricket and find a way to make his debut for the senior team in the coming years.
