Young Indian batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi has a busy schedule as he continues to garner attention. Just weeks before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the 14-year-old batsman is expected to take part in the DY Patil T20 Tournament in Navi Mumbai, a highly competitive corporate event.

Every year 16 teams participate in the DY Patil T20 tournament. Notably, this tournament is one of the oldest T20 events in India, which started in 2003. It is played at the DY Patil Stadium, a venue that has hosted major matches, including the Women’s World Cup final, World Cup practice games and some IPL fixtures.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, talks between Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s team and DY Patil tournament organizers are nearing finalization. The report says that the chances of the young batsman playing in the tournament are very high.

It is noteworthy that the DY Patil T20 tournament will start from February 23, just before the IPL season. It usually attracts both domestic and international players due to its high scoring conditions.

In recent editions, many famous players have participated in the event. Players like Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Shivam Dubey, Nehal Wadhera and Deepak Chahar have participated in the tournament.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently training at Rajasthan Royals camp in Talegaon.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is going to get a motorcycle as a special gift after impressing in the Under-19 World Cup. The presentation is expected to take place at a promotional event in his hometown in Bihar.

Vaibhav lives in Samastipur, about 85 kilometers from Patna, where the ceremony will take place. Since he’s not old enough to ride a motorcycle yet, he can return home as the person sitting in the back seat with the new gift. He is training at the Rajasthan Royals facility in Talegaon near Nagpur.

Cricbuzz quoted a source as saying, “He is currently practicing in Talegaon, where the Rajasthan Royals camp is going on. The camp will continue till February 21, after which Suryavanshi will go to Patna and then to his hometown.”

Vaibhav Suryavanshi presents historic U-19 World Cup campaign

Vaibhav Suryavanshi had a brilliant Under-19 World Cup campaign. In the final against England in Harare on 6 February, he scored 175 runs from 80 balls, which included 15 fours and 15 sixes. He completed his century in just 55 balls. India won their sixth title and Suryavanshi was named player of the match.

He scored 439 runs in seven innings of the tournament at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.50. Former England player Mark Butcher compared his batting style to that of Sir Gary Sobers.

Suryavanshi started his IPL journey with a six off Shardul Thakur and later became the fastest Indian to score a century in 35 balls. During IPL 2025, he scored 252 runs in seven matches at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 206.55.
