Former India captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth concluded the comparison between Sachin Tendulkar and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. 15-year-old Suryavanshi is on the verge of making her debut for Team India as the selection committee has named the rising opening batsman in the T20 squad for the upcoming series.
If Vaibhav debuts for India at the age of only 15, he will break Sachin Tendulkar’s record. The young batsman’s extraordinary batting skills at such a young age often attract comparisons with cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Srikanth joins Sachin Tendulkar vs Vaibhav Suryavanshi debate
Krishnamachari Srikkanth urged to stop the Sachin vs Vaibhav debate as both the batsmen are from different eras. The former captain ended the discussion by calling Sachin the God of Cricket and Vaibhav the son of God.
“Let’s not compare Sachin and Suryavanshi. Let’s keep it there. Sachin is the God of cricket, and this boy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, I believe, is the son of God. Let’s keep it that way. I don’t believe in comparing eras, so let’s not compare Sachin with anyone. Sachin is Sachin. Nobody can come close to him. There is no use comparing Sachin and Vaibhav Suryavanshi,” Srikkanth told news agency PTI.
Former captain told why Suryavanshi is special
Srikkanth believes that what Vaibhav Suryavanshi has done in the IPL and Under-19 format is astronomical. The former batsman also points to the decision-making ability of the Rajasthan Royals batsman, who uses his wrist, bat speed and swing to attack the bowlers. For Krishnamachari Srikkanth, the entire process is down to a well-coordinated mindset and batting skills.

He said, “Now, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been amazing in IPL and T20 cricket. He has also been excellent in Under-19 cricket. Suryavanshi’s shot-making ability is amazing. The way he plays those shots, his wrist speed, bat speed and bat swing is remarkable. I also think his mind is very stable.”
He mentioned Suryavanshi’s innings against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 Qualifier, where he showed composure and temperament to score 96 runs. The southpaw, who likes to attack the bowlers right from the start of the innings, waited patiently for his turn before hitting some of his most extraordinary shots.
The former cricketer further added, “If you look at that innings in the IPL against Gujarat Titans, when his team was under pressure, he hung in there and played a brilliant innings. What I like most about Vaibhav Suryavanshi is that he has the hunger to score runs and the hunger to dominate. Also, he can stay at the crease and score innings.”
‘That boy has a very good future’
The 66-year-old predicts a very bright future for Suryavanshi. Therefore, he believes that it is unnecessary to compare Kishore with Sachin Tendulkar or any other cricketer.
“I think that boy has a great future. So let’s not compare him with Sachin or anyone else. Let him be himself. Let him grow naturally and play the way he wants to play. We should just encourage him,” Krishnamachari Srikkanth concluded the debate by saying.
