“Boss Baby” Vaibhav Suryavanshi has received the ultimate endorsement for his Team India and Test cricket prospects. The “God of Cricket” Sachin Tendulkar himself has said that this teenager can play Test cricket in the future.
Suryavanshi had a record-breaking performance in IPL 2026, where he scored 776 runs at a strike rate of 237 and broke Chris Gayle’s 14-year-old record of most sixes in an IPL season.
The breaking point came when Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 97 runs in just 29 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2026 eliminator and came within inches of breaking Gayle’s record of scoring the fastest century faced by balls in IPL history.
As of now, Suryavanshi still has the IPL 2026 Orange Cap, but she may lose it during the IPL final between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans on Sunday.
“He is really something special” – Sachin Tendulkar
Speaking at an event in Mumbai, Tendulkar talked about Vaibhav Suryavanshi and how good the 15-year-old is. Tendulkar said that the boy’s wrist work was the decisive factor behind his exploits.
“Everyone is talking about Suryavanshi and I saw him bat – it was fantastic,” Tendulkar said. “I mean, he’s really something special. And not only his ability to hit the ball, but the thing that attracted me was his wrist art.
He further added, “To be able to play all directions of the ground, you need good wrist work. And he’s not slogging the ball. He’s picking line and length earlier than everyone else, and he can clear the rope with ease.”
“I would tell him to just stay the same” – Sachin Tendulkar
Asked what advice he would give to the young southpaw if he wants to succeed in Test cricket, Tendulkar said no pressure should be put on the boy.
Tendulkar said that Test cricket will come with its own challenges, but Vaibhav Suryavanshi needs to stay true to himself and not get confused by the many things said to him.
“I would tell them to just stay that way,” he said. “There is always a first time. As he gets older in Test cricket, he will learn how to deal with different challenges.” [It’s about] Having a solution-oriented mindset. Problems will always remain. The problems will last till the last day of your career, till the last ball you face.”
He said, “The bowler is asking a question on every ball. Now, what solution do you find? He is a player who looks very confident, very sure of what he wants to do, and I don’t want to mess with his instincts.”
Tendulkar said, “The way he sees the ball and the way he reacts to it, if that signal gets disrupted – if you put too many obstacles in between by telling him too many things – that will be the real challenge. I will give him the freedom to go out and bat. Over time, he will learn to deal with other challenges of the game.”
“An exciting talent like Vaibhav Suryavanshi needs encouragement” – Sachin Tendulkar
Tendulkar concluded his address by saying that Vaibhav Suryavanshi needs to be encouraged to move forward in his career.
He also said that no pressure should be put on the young player and Vaibhav Suryavanshi should take appropriate steps in handing over his Test debut to nature instead of rushing into things.
“Not just me, but everyone would like to see him [playing Test cricket] at some stage. I don’t know when that will happen. But an exciting talent needs encouragement. And if he is doing well, we need to encourage and support him and above all enjoy, and not put constant pressure on him, you know, he should play this, or he should not do that, or he should be selected in any team. leave it to the people [selectors] Who is responsible for this?” Tendulkar said.
