Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Vishen Halambaj have been recommended to be fined 50 per cent of their match fees for their physical and heated verbal exchanges after Sri Lanka A’s Super Over win against India A in Dambulla, reports RevSportz.

India A captain Tilak Verma has been recommended a 30 per cent fine, while Sri Lanka A wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella is being fined 20 per cent. While Tilak was penalized for having a heated argument with the umpire, Dickwella was fined for excessive appeal behind the stumps during the thrilling match.

It is being said that Tilak was very angry while talking to the match officials. Match referee Pradeep Jayapragash took these decisions on the basis of the reports of on-field umpires. No formal hearing was held, but the incident was reviewed and action was suggested based on what happened during and after the match.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi loses his temper after continuous sledding

The situation became serious when Vaibhav Suryavanshi was seen arguing with the Sri Lankan players after the match. At one point, the situation became so serious that during the heated argument, there were reports of pushing and shoving, which made the matter even worse.

Reports also suggest that the Sri Lankan players were taking a dig at Vaibhav and other India A cricketers, particularly targeting their IPL performances. This continuous verbal abuse incensed the Indian players.

Vaibhav was reportedly told to ‘go home, this is not IPL’ in a comment made during the ongoing ODI tri-series, which angered Suryavanshi.

SLC takes swift action, but BCCI takes no action on Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Some reports say that BCCI has decided not to impose any direct penalty on Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Since this is an A-team series and not senior international cricket, the decision on punishment depends on the individual cricket boards rather than International Cricket Council (ICC) rules.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has already accepted the match referee’s recommendation and imposed a 50 per cent fine on Vishen Halambage. Niroshan Dickwella has also been fined 20 percent for excessive appeal during the match. However, there is still no clarity on this step of BCCI.
