Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s childhood coach, Manish Ojha has backed the young Indian batsman to enter international cricket ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. Ojha urged the BCCI to consider the 14-year-old for India’s T20I plans, saying he has the required skills and mindset to deal with the pressure of top-level cricket.
Suryavanshi once again grabbed attention by playing a sensational innings in the U19 Asia Cup. The teenage batsman scored 171 runs off 95 balls against UAE in Dubai, which included nine fours and a record 14 sixes, the most ever in a youth ODI innings. The Men in Blue scored 433 runs in 50 overs and won by 234 runs.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s childhood coach believes that the young batsman is ready for international cricket. Manish Ojha said Suryavanshi has shown maturity and skill as he thrashes international and domestic bowlers with confidence in IPL 2025.

Manish Ojha believes Vaibhav Suryavanshi has done enough to be considered for India’s T20 World Cup plans. He said the teenager has shown complete control and consistency in age-group cricket across different countries, conditions and tournaments.
“In Under-19 cricket, whether it is the England tour, Australia, or the Asia Cup – in the emerging teams, every field, every pitch, every situation – he is dominant,” Ojha said.
“He consistently performs well against all types of bowlers and scores big centuries every time. In my view, he is absolutely ready for the T20 opportunity. Team India management or BCCI can include him in the World Cup squad and I am 100% confident that he will keep progressing when given the opportunity,” he said.

Manish Ojha believes that Vaibhav Suryavanshi could have scored a double century against UAE. He said that teens should continue to improve and push their personal limits.
Ojha said, ‘The way he was batting, I was watching that double century today. If he had played 10-15 more balls, it would have been a double century. Anyway, what he has done is also very commendable. But there is no limit to greatness. A person should enhance his performance and excellence at every step.’
Only a few cricketers have made their international debut at the age of just 14, with Hasan Raza, Meet Bhavsar and George Sesay being the only examples so far.
Meanwhile, Suryavanshi had a quiet performance against Pakistan in the Under-19 Asia Cup. The left-handed batsman was out after scoring five runs. He has the second highest run score in the tournament.
