Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues his attack in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026). The 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals (RR) player claimed a record in the league history during the match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
He is now officially the batsman with the most number of sixes in a single campaign in the IPL. This record was earlier in the name of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Abhishek Sharma.

In IPL 2024, Abhishek hit 42 sixes, which was the most by a batsman in an IPL season. Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke this record. The Bihar batsman has hit 43 sixes so far in the current season and this number is expected to increase.

Vaibhav Suratvanshi left his mark against Delhi Capitals
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s form has remained consistent in IPL 2026. Apart from a few games, the opener remains one of the most impressive openers in the league as well as the format. Tonight against Delhi Capitals, the southpaw was batting with his naturally aggressive approach.
RR lost the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the powerplay early in the innings. But the run rate did not decrease because of Vaibhav. Despite the fall of Jaiswal’s wicket, the opener showed no intention of slowing down. The way he was batting, he missed another half-century by just a few yards. But, he had to be out after scoring 46 runs in only 21 balls. The effective innings of 46 balls included five fours and three sixes.
When Jaiswal was out, Rajasthan Royals’ score was 19 runs in 1.5 overs and when Vaibhav Suryavanshi was out, the score was only 89 runs in 7.4 overs. Uncapped Indian fast bowler Madhav Tiwari of Delhi Capitals took the perfect wicket. Veteran South African batsman David Miller took a safe catch to get rid of the dangerous batsman.
DC decided to bowl first
RR came to bat first as home team Delhi Capitals won the toss and decided to field first. However, Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag was not unhappy with being asked to bat first.
“Now everything is fine. I had a hamstring injury, so everything is fine. (Happy to bat first?) I was also quite unsure about it. It feels like the wicket is dry, but we have seen the past scores and past results, chasing has been better, but then it also slows down a bit. So I was a bit confused, but happy to lose the toss. We have seen some ups and downs in the last few matches. I think we didn’t defend well. But today we get another chance to do it and do it clinically,” Parag said after the toss.
