Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has taken strict action after ugly scenes broke out at the end of the India A vs Sri Lanka A one-day tri-series match in Dambulla. It was an exciting encounter, but the ugly confrontation with Vaibhav Suryavanshi after the last ball shocked everyone and became a major controversy.
The high-voltage match ended in incredible fashion as both teams finished on exactly 265 runs. Sri Lanka A eventually showed courage to win the Super Over, but tension between players on both sides doomed their efforts in the match.

A Cricbuzz report has revealed that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has taken action against some players involved in the post-match brawl. Sri Lanka A batsman Vishen Halambage has been banned after a heated altercation with India’s Vaibhav Suryavanshi after the one-day tri-series match.
For which Vishen Halambaj had to face vicious online attacks. Tension increased after Sri Lanka A won the Super Over against India A. Several pieces of viral footage showed an angry confrontation between Suryavanshi and Halambaj.
The situation worsened when the Indian youngster appeared to push the Sri Lankan player, before teammates and officials rushed to separate the two cricketers and prevent the matter from worsening. Match referee Pradeep Jayapragash reportedly took disciplinary action after reviewing the incidents surrounding the play.

Niroshan Dickwella fined, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s status still unclear!
Another Sri Lanka A player, veteran wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella, has also reportedly been fined for a separate infraction during the match.
This offense is believed to be related to excessive appeal while keeping wickets. Interestingly, there is still no clarity on whether any action was taken against Suryavanshi for pushing Halambaj before he separated during the clash.
The left-hander’s involvement in the confrontation was visible during post-match footage, but it is said that no official hearing was held and the sanctions were based on the report submitted by the on-field umpires over the incident in Dambulla.
Sairaj Bahutule defends Vaibhav Suryavanshi, targets Sri Lankan players
Meanwhile, India spin-bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule has backed Vaibhav Suryavanshi after the heated incident against Sri Lanka A. The coach said he was surprised to see the 15-year-old involved in such a situation and criticized the behavior of the Sri Lankan players.
“It was an unfortunate incident, but we don’t know how it provoked him because I know him, and Vaibhav is a very calm kid, but I am sure there are experienced coaches there who will guide him. The Sri Lankan players should also be taught how to behave,” Sairaj Bahutule said ahead of India’s second ODI against Afghanistan, as quoted by the Times of India.
Bahutule has worked with Vaibhav Suryavanshi for many years in both junior cricket and Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, so he feels the teenager will learn from this incident. He signed off by saying, “He will learn; he is a young kid who has a lot of responsibility to represent India. I am sure he will not repeat it, and such incidents can be avoided.”
