India will register its first win in the tour
Team India has not yet been able to register a win on the current tour. The tour started with a 2-match T20 series against Ireland, where the Indian cricket team suffered a rare setback and lost 0–2 to the Ireland cricket team. It was an embarrassing result for the Men in Blue as it was their first series since the 2026 T20 World Cup final against New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
India started their new T20I cycle with a heavy defeat before traveling to England for a 5-match T20I series which will be followed by a 3-match ODI series. The 5-match T20I series started with one match abandoned in Birmingham.
In the previous match, India had achieved a competitive score of 189/7, with a blistering innings of over fifty runs. The second innings of the match could not be played due to continuous rain. Ultimately the match was cancelled.
The bilateral series is currently tied at 0-0. The winner of the second match at the Old Trafford Cricket Stadium will take the lead.
