table of contents

Bangladesh cricket team defeated Pakistan once again. In the first match of the two-match Test series, which is a part of the ongoing cycle of the World Test Championship, the Tiger Brigade recorded an impressive victory over visiting Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on May 12.

Before the series, Shaheen Afridi mentioned that his only aim is to qualify for the finals of the championship. They will have to keep winning to keep their hopes alive, as they are not in a very comfortable position in the WTC 2025-27 points table. Due to the defeat against Bangladesh, they are now far away from the finals.

Since the lead was not very big, a close contest was expected in the second innings. The conditions in the innings were not favorable for the batsmen. The ball was turning on the dry surface, making the situation more challenging for the batsmen on both sides.

Bangladesh managed to add 240 runs for the loss of 9 wickets and asked Pakistan to chase the target of 268 runs. Since the pitch was a bit difficult, it was not easy to claim the target of 268 runs.

Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto also performed brilliantly in the second innings and scored 87 runs. Mominul Haq provided good support to the captain by playing an inning of more than fifty runs. Hasan Ali and Noman Ali took 3-3 wickets for Pakistan.

During the chase, the away team’s batsmen faced trouble batting. Apart from Abdullah Fazal’s 66 runs, there was nothing of significance from the rest of their batting unit. On the fifth day of the first Test, Bangladesh claimed a comfortable victory against the Pakistan cricket team. Pakistan lost all its batsmen for only 163 runs and Bangladesh won the match by 104 runs.
