Match no. 54 was the second match of the double header on Sunday, where Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced Mumbai Indians (MI) in Raipur. It was a reverse situation and the defending champions won the low-scoring thriller by 2 wickets on the last ball of the 20th over.
MI was led by Suryakumar Yadav as Hardik Pandya missed the game as he is still not fit. However, it was Rajat Patidar who won the toss and decided to field first; The defending champions played the same team after their previous defeat. Mumbai also fielded an unchanged team from their win in the previous game.
IPL 2026: RCB vs MI Match Result:
After being invited to bat first, Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton did not have a good start, with the latter being out for two runs and Buvneshwar Kumar taking the wicket. Rohit then took charge and scored 22 runs on the night before being dismissed by his former Indian teammate Bhuvi.
On the very next ball, SKY also went for a golden duck as MI were reduced to 28/3 inside the power play. Tilak Verma and Naman Dheer then put on a partnership of 82 runs, and returned with 47 runs later in the game, with MI at one point being 110/4.
Tilak brought up his half-century in 37 balls, and tried to increase the run rate with 57 off 42 balls, as Bhuvi was one of the bowlers, ending his four-over spell with 4/23. Raj Angad Bawa scored 16 runs and MI scored 165/7 in 20 overs.
Chasing the target, Virat Kohli was out for a duck on the very first ball and MI bowlers completely dominated RCB as after Kohli, Deepak Chahar took his second wicket by dismissing the dangerous Devdutt Padikkal for 12 runs. After this, Rajat Patidar had no problem in scoring only 8 runs in the night.
After this, Krunal Pandya and Jacob Bethel made a partnership of 55 runs between themselves, but later got out on the score of 27 runs. The former player completed his half-century in 32 balls. Jitesh Sharma was on the score of 18 runs and Tim David returned to the pavilion without opening the account.
Pandya came back with a sensational knock of 73 to put RCB in a winning position, and MI got back into the game, but Bhuvneshwar Kumar hit a six with 9 runs needed from three as Rajat Patidar’s side took a thrilling turn on the last ball.
