Updated Standings, Orange Cap, Purple Cap after MI vs RCB Match 20

Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Match No. 20 was between two giants, with Mumbai Indians (MI) hosting defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. RCB beat MI by 18 runs. MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first.

A large number of fans came to the stadium to watch the clash between Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah in the MI vs RCB match. Coming into the MI vs RCB match, both the teams made some changes. For RCB, Josh Hazlewood was ruled out along with Jacob Duffy, and Suyyash Sharma came in for Abhinandan Singh.

MI also made two changes for the MI vs RCB match, as Deepak Chahar made way for Mayank Markandey, and Allah Ghazanfar made way for New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner. Both teams come into this game having lost their previous match against the same rivals Rajasthan Royals. RCB had a great start thanks to Phil Salt and Virat Kohli.

Between the two, Phil Salt was the aggressive one and was scoring runs at a strike rate of over 200. The English opener hit Mitchell Santner for three sixes in the fourth over. RCB scored 71/0 in the power play and were in complete control. The English batsman completed his half-century in 25 balls. Both made a partnership of 100 runs in just 8.4 overs.

Salt returned to the dugout after scoring 78 and giving RCB the start it needed in the game. Captain Patidar bowled strongly from the very first ball and never allowed the run rate to drop in the game. Kohli scored a half-century in 35 balls and was out immediately after scoring the half-century.

The RCB captain was out on the score of 53 runs in 19 balls. Tim David then scored 34 runs in 16 balls and helped RCB post its highest ever score of 240/4 at Wankhede at the end of 20 overs.

While chasing the target, MI openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma started aggressively from the first over. However, the latter had to withdraw due to a strain in his hamstring as he retired hurt at the score of 19. After a good start, the five-time winners lost their momentum as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Sherfane Rutherford was the top run-scorer with a score of 71 and remained unbeaten, and then captain Hardik Pandya made 40, and Rickelton made 37, but it was not enough to chase the target of 241 runs. MI trailed by 19 runs.
