A true blockbuster Sunday for cricket lovers. In the second match of the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) at the Wankhede Cricket Stadium, both Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) batsmen scored heavily. It was a pure cruise in Mumbai. While KKR dominated the first innings of the match, MI made a comeback in the second leg with the help of their batsmen.

As expected, like the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026, when India and England scored around 500 runs, the MI vs KKR match did not prove to be extraordinary. After KKR’s first innings score of 220, the home team, MI easily claimed the huge score.

IPL 2026: MI vs KKR Match Result

Opening the batting for Kolkata Knight Riders in the first innings of the match, Ajinkya Rahane (67) and Finn Allen (37) played strong innings. KKR openers made an opening partnership of 69 runs in 5.2 overs.

Shardul Thakur was impressive with the ball for MI, as he took three important wickets at a time when other Mumbai bowlers looked pale against the aggressive Knights.

Thakur slowed down the opposition’s run rate, but he left a lot of firepower in his batting part. Rohit Sharma missed a sitter at the crucial moment of the match. With an extra lease of life, KKR’s emerging keeper-batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi (51) scored his team’s second half-century of the night. Rinku Singh (33 not out) also played his role well in the cameo role.

KKR were brilliant with their batting, but MI were prepared for the situation. Rohit Sharma (78 runs, 38 balls) and Ryan Rickelton (81 runs, 43 balls) started the century for their team by making a brilliant partnership of 148 runs for the first wicket. The Mumbai Indians openers easily exposed the KKR bowling attack on a batting-friendly pitch.

The wickets of Sharma, Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav (16) enthralled the contest for a while, but MI captain Hardik Pandya (18 not out) and Tilak Verma (20) were on the field in the middle to steal the match again for Mumbai Indians.

MI vs KKR Team Totals:

1st innings: KKR: 220/4 (20 overs)

2nd innings: MI: 224/4 (19.1 overs)
