It was match number 65 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Eden Gardens, where Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hosted struggling Mumbai Indians (MI). The Knights took their revenge on Hardik Pandya and kept their playoff hopes alive. The home team won the game by 4 wickets and moved up to sixth place in the points table.

Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and decided to bowl first. They played the same team, but with Mathisha Pathirana out of the last game, Rovman Powell returned to the team. On the other hand, for the five-time champions, their regular captain Hardik Pandya is back, and so is Allah Ghazanfar.

IPL 2026: KKR vs MI Match Result:

After being asked to bat first, MI openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma did not have a good start. The South African batsman was out early for just 6 runs, Cameron Green got the breakthrough and then Naman Dheer was out for a duck in the same over. Saurabh Dubey, who was troubling Rohit, got the wicket of the former Indian captain on 15 runs.

Then Suryakumar Yadav, who looked in good touch, could not convert his start into a big score and was out after scoring 15 runs in 5 balls. After the end of the power play, the Blues were trailing at 46/4.

After that, rain came and then Hardik Pandya and Tilak Verma broke the partnership as the latter lost his wicket due to a collision between two Knight fielders, Varun Chakravarthy and Angkrish Raghuvanshi. But Tilak, who was struggling, was out on the score of 20 runs in 32 balls. Hardik also could not survive and was out on 26 runs off the bowling of Sunil Narine.

Corbin Bosch played an easy inning of 32 runs off 18 balls and made the total score 147/8 in 20 overs. KKR’s three bowlers Karthik Tyagi, Saurabh Dubey and Cam Green bowled brilliantly and took two wickets each.

Chasing the target, KKR lost the wicket of Finn Allen early as the Kiwi batsman scored 8 runs. After this, Ajinkya Rahane and Manish Pandey made a partnership, but the KKR captain never got going and was out for 21 runs. Soon Cam Green also returned to the pavilion for just 4 runs.

Then Rovman Powell and Manish Pandey made a partnership of 64 runs. The former was given a life due to confusion between the two MI fielders, after which, the big West Indies batsman took over. The latter was out on the score of 45 runs and the game was almost decided for the team. Powell was out after scoring 40 runs.

Rinku Singh and concussion substitute Tejaswi Dahiya did the finishing touches to keep the Knights in the race so far as they face Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final game of the season at the same venue.
