The first double header of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 took place on Saturday, when Delhi Capitals (DC) took on Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Both the teams had entered this match after winning their first matches of the 19th edition. DC beat MI by 6 wickets.
Axar Patel won the toss and elected to field first, and they came into the match with an unchanged XI from their win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). MI made three changes, as their regular captain Hardik Pandya was unavailable due to illness and Suryakumar Yadav took charge of the franchise.

The other two changes were Deepak Chahar in place of Pandya, Corbin Bosch in place of Trent Boult and Mitchell Santner in place of Allah Ghazanfar. MI had a very poor start as Ryan Rickelton was out to Mukesh Kumar early and Tilak Verma was also out for a duck in the same over.
But Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav made a partnership of 53 runs before getting out at the score of 35 runs. SKY then opened the innings with Naman Dheer as the MI captain scored 51 runs in 36 balls before being dismissed by Lungi Ngidi. Some small contributions from Naman Dheer 28, Mitchell Santner 18 and Corbyn Bosch 11 off 4 balls helped MI post 162/6.
DC had the worst start while chasing the target; They lost KL Rahul on the score of one run, and soon Nitish Rana was also out for a duck thanks to a brilliant throw from Jasprit Bumrah. DC made a partnership of 66 runs for the third wicket with Pathum Nissanka and Sameer Rizvi. Nissanka was out on the score of 44 runs.
