The Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) match number 53 was between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and bottom-placed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). It was the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday. CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and decided to bowl first. He made one change by bringing Shivam Dubey into the playing eleven in place of Gurjapaneet Singh. However, after this, wickets continued to fall from 91/1 to 130/5 with four wickets falling in the space of 40 runs in the middle overs. After that, Himmat Singh and Shahbaz Ahmed made a partnership of 50 runs in 32 balls, taking their score to 203/8, with Shahbaz Ahmed scoring 43 runs in 25 balls.
CSK got off to a fast start to chase the target, with Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad firing from both ends. They scored 45 runs for the first wicket and Digvesh Rathi was dismissed on the score of 28 runs. Then Urvil Patel went crazy and scored 50 runs in two overs.
Urvil Patel scored the joint-fastest half-century in IPL history in 13 balls and walked away with a sensational innings of 65 runs in 23 balls. Soon Chennai captain Ruturaj was out after scoring 42 runs.
Dewald Brevis and Karthik Sharma made a partnership, Dewald Brevis was back on 10 and then Karthik was out after scoring 20 runs. Chennai batsmen Prashant Veer and Shivam Dubey held on and finished the game with five balls remaining.
