Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match number 22, was between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK defeated KKR by 32 runs. KKR won the toss and decided to bowl first. KKR made one change in the match and Varun Chakraborty came in place of Navdeep Saini.

CSK entered the match confident of winning their last game and played an unchanged eleven. The Men in Yellow made a great start by hitting three fours in the very first over of Sanju Samson. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s poor form continued and he was out for a low score of 7 runs, although in-form Ayush Mhatre continued his explosive batting along with Samson.

IPL 2026: CSK vs KKR Match Result:

Mhatre was out in the last over of the powerplay after scoring 38 runs in 17 balls and after the end of 6 overs, CSK’s score was 72/2. Sanju was clean bowled by Kartik Tyagi on a brilliant ball and the wicketkeeper batsman was out on the score of 48. Later, KKR bowlers put some control on the runs.

Dewald Brewis and Sarfaraz Khan bowled brilliantly in a few overs and had a partnership of 50 runs in 32 balls. The latter was out at the score of 23 runs in 18 balls and the partnership was broken by Sunil Narine. In the very next over, Karthik Tyagi dismissed the dangerous Brevis on the score of 41 runs.

CSK could only reach a score of 192/5 in their 20 overs; The kind of start they got would make them feel that they were 25-30 runs short. The night spinners bowled very well in the middle and death overs.

Chasing the target of 193 runs, KKR had the worst start despite opening with Finn Allen and Sunil Narine; Both of them were back inside the first six overs as CSK were on top for the Knights. However, after those two wickets they could never chase the target.

Wickets kept falling in the middle overs and the Knights failed to chase the target as Rovman Powell and Ramandeep Singh put in their best efforts as the batsmen scored 31 and 35 runs respectively and the Knights finished with the score at 160/7. This is the fourth loss for the Purple and Gold team as they have yet to win their first game in the competition.
