Indian fans criticized Sanju Samson after he lost cheaply in the second T20I against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne on Friday (October 31). Sanju Samson was sent in to bat at number 3 after Josh Hazlewood dismissed Shubman Gill for 5.
However, the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman failed to take advantage of the opportunity against Australia. Samson stood inside his crease and tried to play a full ball, but the ball bounced back quickly and hit his back leg.
It was a sharp in-swinger from Nathan Ellis. Later, ball-tracking confirmed that the ball had hit leg stump and Samson was given out LBW for just 2 runs off 4 balls.
Following his dismissal, fans have been questioning the Kerala star’s place in the T20I team and even suggesting that he should consider retiring from the format.

Sanju Samson: Another fraud exposed in Indian cricket!
Australia vs India collapses to 23/2 in 3.3 overs – Samson out at poor score of 2(4), Nathan Ellis LBW! As usual the experiment failed.

Sanju Samson has already overtaken BKL Rahul and Lishab Lunt’s T20 legacy in just 2 innings, and these BKL Rahul and Lunt fans have the audacity to call out Sanju for a rare failure

Sanju Samson, what do you want brother?
Failed as an opener
Failed as a finisher
failed in the middle orderToday, Surya even gave up his batting position to send you to No. 3 – and you failed again.
What else do you need? #INDvsAUS #sanjusamson– KLRology (@rajesh_3456) 31 October 2025
If you can’t remove your poster boy Gill, at least remove Sanju Samson and bring in Jaiswal.
– Nikita (@bae_stvrri) 31 October 2025
Jaiswal plays hard in this situation.. Gill does not know how to play when the pressure comes. Sanju Samson’s bat does not work against a quality pace bowling attack.

Imagine when you have a dangerous player like Jitesh Sharma and there are some serious problems with RCB players then Sanju Samson is given a chance.
And this MF Samson who has been playing on sympathy quota for the last 2 years, drop him from the team now. pic.twitter.com/NcpOqsMRwQ

Also, I think the time has come that we give free rein to Jitesh Sharma in the T-20 team. Our major issue is finishing department, Jitesh helps to solve that issue. Sanju Samson has been given a very long rope and he has been extremely inconsistent.

Jitesh Sharma is a much better batsman and wicketkeeper than Sanju Samson. Jitesh Sharma should play the next game.#INDvsAUS pic.twitter.com/wHbCQKSZGh

Nathan Ellis once again troubled Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson’s troubles against Nathan Ellis continued during the second T20I, as the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman once again fell victim to the right-arm Australian pacer. The statistics of their head-to-head in T20 show a clear picture of Ellis’ dominance over Sanju.
In just three innings, Samson has faced 13 balls from Ellis and managed to score only 12 runs, getting out all three times.

Sanju Samson’s T20 struggle continues
Samson did not get a chance to bat in the first game of the ongoing five-match T20 series as the match was abandoned due to rain in Canberra. But his figures are also not impressive. After scoring a half-century against Oman in the Asia Cup 2025, he failed to make any significant impact with the bat.
In his last six matches, Samson could only score 2, 24, 39 and 13 and did not bat twice for India in T20Is. He has six single-digit scores in the last 15 T20Is. The Rajasthan Royals captain also had an ordinary IPL 2025 season, scoring only 285 runs in 9 matches.
India lost half of its team inside the powerplay in the second T20I
Meanwhile, the Men in Blue are in deep trouble in the ongoing second T20I against Australia, losing five wickets for just 49 runs in 8 overs. There were a lot of expectations from Tilak Verma, but he was out for zero, while captain Suryakumar Yadav (1) also disappointed the team after the Canberra blitz.

Axar Patel was run out after scoring seven runs, while Gill and Samson could not even face more than 10 balls against Australia. Abhishek Sharma (36*) is tackling the boundary, but India need a big partnership to recover from the initial shock. Interestingly, Harshit Rana was sent before Shivam Dubey.
