Travis Head unleashed his strangest version yet when a reporter questioned his thirst for a maiden double century in Test cricket. The Australian batsman was out for his seventh 150+ score at the SCG on Tuesday and missed another golden opportunity to score his maiden double century for the second time in this series.
Australia’s explosive left-handed batsman Travis Head has terrorized the English bowling attack by scoring another century in the ongoing Ashes competition. Following his promotion to the top order, Head scored his third century as an opening batsman with a knock of 163 from 166 balls during Australia’s first innings at the SCG.
Head currently averages 60 as an opening batsman in Test cricket and has scored 600 runs at a blistering strike rate of 87.59 in the 5-match series. This marked his highest ever score in a single Test series, although he finished 2025 as the second-highest run-scorer in a calendar year in Test cricket.
“Beggars can’t be choosers, very pretty lady, right?” -Travis Head reveals brutal suicide
As Travis Head crossed the 150-run mark in Test cricket for the 7th time and once again missed out on a double century, his highest score is 175 runs which came against West Indies in 2022. When Head was asked about the inconsistency and his hunger for double centuries, he gave a strange response that made the entire room laugh.
He said, “Beggars can’t be choosers, pretty shit stat, right?
Head further added, “Instead of minus 10, I would have liked a score of 160 to 170, so I can’t complain about that. I probably had a few chances in this series. Yeah, go ahead and watch the boys do that.”
“I’m not too worried (about not getting a double century as a milestone),” he concluded.
“Pretty fucking statue, isn’t it?”

Travis Head happy to be a heavy lifter alongside Steve Smith in the Australian team
Speaking to reporters, Head was asked about his feelings after his recent success at the top of the order, to which he replied that he was extremely happy.
“I’m not normally one who lifts heavy weights. Marnus (Labuschagne) and Smudge (Steve Smith) have been the heavy lifters in recent times, guys who have really taken the game forward,” Head said.
However, he seemed happy that he finally got the chance to stick his finger out and help them, and is very satisfied with the way he has consistently performed well in the series.
Travis Head hints at continuing at the top of the order for Australia
Travis Head has never been vocal about his chances of opening the innings for the Australian team for a long time; However, the South Australian batsman looked confident that he will remain at the top of the Australian batting order after scoring his third century in the Ashes.
Anyway, Australia do not have any Test matches scheduled until August and will then continue their chances in the WTC cycle. However, Head admitted that he is likely to continue as an opening batsman during the winter campaign against Bangladesh.
“This rolling order, where we think people are going to match up and where we’re going to fit people in, I think that’s where my mind is right now,” Head explained.
“With the group leadership and the selectors, we have been quite open about how we match up and how we want to be the best fit for this team.”
He further said that he has got a lot of time to decide on it, as he has had a good, long break from this format of the game. After this the management and players will plan for the upcoming series against Bangladesh, South Africa and New Zealand.
Head concluded, “The masterminds will go to work and prepare the team in a way how they think we will be able to win Test matches.”
