Australia opener Travis Head is likely to miss the final two T20 matches of the ongoing five-match series against the Suryakumar Yadav-led side on home soil. The left-handed batsman will focus on preparing for the upcoming Ashes 2025 series against England instead of the final two matches against India.

Australia won by four wickets in the second T20I at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday, October 31. The host team chased the target of 126 runs in 14 overs. With this win, the Mitchell Marsh-led side took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. The initial match was canceled due to rain.

Australia has taken a 1-0 lead in the series by defeating India by four wickets in Melbourne. Mitchell Marsh scored 46 runs from 26 balls, while Travis Head scored 28 runs from 15 balls, as the hosts easily chased down the target of 125 runs with 40 balls remaining.

For India, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets each, but the total proved too small to defend.

Earlier, India were demolished by Josh Hazlewood’s aggressive spell of 3 wickets for 13 runs. Hazlewood had demolished the top order inside the powerplay. Only Abhishek Sharma (68 off 37) and Harshit Rana (35 off 33) offered resistance. Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis took two wickets each.
