Australia opener Travis Head, who had a spat with former India captain Virat Kohli during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, has finally broken his silence on the matter, months after the IPL ended. There was a fight between the two as they did not shake hands as is customary after the match.
During the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Virat Kohli refused to shake hands with the left-handed batsman when Kohli was batting during the match.

Speaking on Code Sports, Travis Head did not reveal the entire incident as to what was discussed between him and Kohli during the match and said that there is no bad blood between him and Kohli and such incidents are part of the game.
“I don’t think there’s anything worth patching up,” Head told Code Sports. “That’s just it. It is, yes. There are no surprises in how the competition played out or what happened. As expected,” he said.
What caused the fight between Virat Kohli and Travis Head?
Batting first, SRH set a huge target of 256 runs for the reigning IPL champions. And during the chase, when Kohli was batting, they exchanged a few words which later asked the Australian batsman to come and bowl in the match.
Virat Kohli was out on 15, and thus Head made fun of him by saying that Kohli was out before he even got a chance to bowl, which made Kohli very angry during the traditional greeting after the match.
When Head extended his hand, Virat refused to shake hands with the southpaw and ignored him. RCB lost the match by 55 runs as they could only score 200 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

Following the incident, Travis Head’s wife Jessica Davis faced severe backlash and abuse on social media, and she came out publicly and revealed that the situation was emotionally draining and upsetting for her and her entire family.
Travis Head also said the same thing while speaking on the show, he played down the situation and claimed that it is a normal thing for a professional cricketer to deal with public scrutiny, but he also revealed that the abuse had an impact on him and others around his family, who were not used to enduring this kind of reaction and abuse.
“I think Jessica and I have a pretty good perspective on things. This is the world we live in, and I think she’s amazing how she handles things like that. It was more that the family thing was built around it, which flowed over to other family members who don’t particularly see that kind of stuff,” Head said.
He said, “Everyone forgets about it within a few days. She handled it very well. It’s probably handling it with others and having other people’s perspective on how things are.”
