The first round of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has been completed as all the teams have played their first matches of the 19th edition of the competition. Now, the second round of matches is set to begin today as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
The Knights have lost their first match against Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium. On the other hand, the road matches continue for Sunrisers Hyderabad after losing their first game against defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on the opening day of the IPL, and now they will play another away match against KKR.
KKR vs SRH is set to be played at the Eden Gardens as match number 6 of the IPL is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST. The KKR vs SRH match will be a battle of the batsmen as both the teams have strength in batting.

With players like Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen, the Orange Army’s top 4 are the most dangerous in world cricket. On paper, on their day, they can destroy even the best bowling attacks in the IPL. However, their bowling is a matter of concern with Pat Cummins not playing and they have an inexperienced attack.
KKR’s bowling has also been weak, with Harshit Rana and Akash Deep ruled out, and Mathisha Pathirana yet to join the squad as he has not been granted NOC from Sri Lanka Cricket. Their death bowling has been a problem, and the spin duo of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy have also been out of form.
As per a report by RevSportz, the pitch that will be used for this KKR vs SRH game is the same pitch that was used in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-final between South Africa and New Zealand, where Finn Allen scored 100 off 33 balls. Allen will now be on the side of Purple and Gold and will try to score as many runs as possible.
Eden Gardens has been such a pitch where the bowlers have not got much help from the wicket in recent times. The temperature in Kolkata is hot and humid and there is a possibility of dew in the second innings, so the toss will be an important factor as the team winning the toss will want to bowl first keeping the dew in mind.
