The Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign got off to a great start. The 19th edition has seen some amazing matches so far, including two high-scoring games and exciting low-scoring matches. Four matches have been played so far in the tournament. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will face Delhi Capitals (DC) in the opening match of their season today.

Match No. 5 of LSG vs DC is scheduled to be played between LSG and DC at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. The two sides had different 2025 campaigns, as both sides failed to qualify for the playoffs. Although the Capitals had a great start to their campaign last season, they could not capitalize on it. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm Indian time.

IPL 2026: LSG vs DC Preview:

LSG had a busy auction last season, buying Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crore as the southpaw became the highest-paid player in IPL history. However, it was not a good season for Pant and LSG also had to deal with injuries to their bowlers. They finished 7th in the points table after losing 8 games. They would like to change their fortunes this season.

Delhi Capitals, who had a great start to their last season, won 5 out of 6 matches, but missed the playoffs after winning only 1 out of their last 5. This season, they will not want to repeat the mistakes made in IPL 2025. The Capitals will miss Mitchell Starc, who is yet to regain full fitness and join the team.

The LSG vs DC match will be amazing to watch and fans will come in large numbers to cheer for their team on Wednesday. LSG face challenges in the early season, with all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga awaiting fitness clearance and Josh Inglis likely to miss matches due to personal reasons.

On the other hand, Ben Duckett has withdrawn his IPL deal for DC. The England opening batsman is looking to regain his form and salvage his Test career after a poor performance in the Ashes series. Starc will miss some matches as he is yet to reach DC.

According to reports, today’s game between LSG vs DC will be played on a red clay pitch. This means there will be good bounce on offer and the batsmen will enjoy their time on the surface as it will not be a slow track. On the other hand, fast bowlers may get help.
