From day one, on the pitch The Maharaja Singh PCA Stadium looked dry and it became more conducive to spin as the match progressed. If we look at the surface, after winning the toss, Shubman Gill did not waste any time in batting first.
Over the years, Afghanistan has produced a number of quality spinners such as Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmed and Mohammad Nabi. But this newly formed Afghanistan playing XI lacked quality in all departments against the power-packed home team.
The follow-on gave the visiting team another chance to save their pride in the second innings, but it proved to be even more disastrous for them. In both the innings, the Indian spinners thoroughly enjoyed the special conditions of the subcontinent.
Emerging spinner Manav Suthar turned the first innings into his special exhibition to showcase his bowling skills. Breaking several all-time records, Suthar took 6 wickets for only 33 runs.
