Notably, David was released by the five-time IPL champions ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Since moving to RCB, he has become a key player for the franchise.

Tim David could face IPL ban after viral middle-finger controversy
The viral middle-finger controversy has landed David in serious trouble, as he violated Article 2.6 of the IPL 2026 code of conduct, which prohibits the use of any “obscene, offensive or insulting gesture” during a match.
This rule applies to everyone involved in the game, including players in the dugout and team officials. If match officials believe that the gesture was merely an emotional reaction or frustration and was not directly aimed at anyone, it is usually considered a Level 1 offence.
In such a situation, the player may be warned or fined up to 50 percent of the match fee. However, the RCB star could face a hefty fine or a one- or two-match ban if it is a Level 2 offence, which refers to the gesture directed at an opposition player, umpire, team staff member or even fans.
