Tilak Verma was taunted by Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris with ‘This is not Mumbai, and this is not IPL’ comment, and the Indian batsman has now given a befitting reply.
India dominated Pakistan in the Asia Cup final and won the match by 5 wickets to win their 9th Asia Cup title. However, at one stage India were on the backfoot, falling 3 wickets for just 20 runs in an attempt to chase down the modest target of less than 150.
It was then, thanks to that one batsman, a masterclass from Tilak Verma, that India survived the early scare and won the match. He was also declared Player of the Match for his brilliant innings.
Tilak Verma’s befitting reply to Pakistan wicketkeeper’s ‘IPL-sledge’ in Asia Cup final
Tilak Verma was the architect of India’s victory in the Asia Cup 2025 final, but there was a story behind his historic innings. When Tilak came to bat, India had lost two wickets and soon Shubman Gill was also out, resulting in the middle-order batsmen having to do some work.
It was the first time India had lost its top three so early, and then, Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Harris mocked Tilak, saying, “This is not Mumbai, and this is not the IPL.” Tilak, known for his calm attitude, did not respond to any of these provocations.
In a latest (It may not be Mumbai, but Mumbaikars are here.)”
Tilak, a Telugu resident of Hyderabad, is adopting Mumbai as his city.
And then we have (GT) Shubman Gill who we would never do to accept the love of Gujjus.
To do this he could have appeared in the Garba program for 5 minutes, but no.

Tilak Verma not included in ODI team for upcoming tour of Australia
India have announced their squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia, and despite the absence of Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, India have not included Tilak Verma in the squad.
After missing the Asia Cup 2025 as well as the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been selected for the 3-match ODI series in Australia. While Dhruv Jurel has also been named in the ODI squad, players like Tilak, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson are still waiting for their chance.
After Sai Sudarshan’s consecutive flops, will Tilak Verma be given a chance in South Africa Test?
Another major change in the Indian team has been regarding the number 3 role in the Indian red-ball team. Gujarat Titans’ young player Sai Sudarshan was given many opportunities, but he could not take advantage of them.
On the other hand, while Sudarshan has struggled to score runs recently in English conditions, Tilak has scored a flurry of runs in his County Championship debut. Tilak’s domestic performances in the longest format of the game have also been very impressive, and hence, he may soon find a role in the Indian Test team.
