Double blow to India!
However, it was a disappointing day for India. India’s women’s national cricket team suffered a crushing defeat by six wickets against Australia in a must-win match. With this defeat, their journey in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 ended, with Australia and South Africa qualifying for the semi-finals from Group A. England and West Indies qualified for the semi-finals from Group B.
The situation became even worse for the men’s team. India lost the second and final T20I against Ireland, facing an embarrassing defeat ahead of the white-ball tour of England next month.
Ambati Rayudu wants a bigger role for Ishan Kishan after Virat Kohli’s return
Meanwhile, former Indian batsman Ambati Rayudu believes that Ishan Kishan should bat at number four in India’s ODI team following the return of Virat Kohli for the three-match ODI series against England starting on July 14. Rayudu feels Kishan is the right choice as he plays both fast bowlers and spinners very well and this change will strengthen India’s batting line-up.
“When it comes to Ishan Kishan, it’s great that he is part of the ODI setup, and being a left-handed batsman, he will add a lot of value. So, I see him eventually batting at number four. It’s an ideal number for him,” Rayudu said on Sony Sports Network.
“Being a left-handed batsman, he plays spin very well and also plays pace well. So, he and Shreyas Iyer can play the number four and five batsman role. It will be a very strong number four and five for India going forward.”
